No. Unfortunately, it’s not.
Holy expanding waistline. Thank God the holidays are over.
As the holidays closed in on me after Thanksgiving, I decided that I would head off both gluttony and sloth at the pass. My plan was to engage in a head-on battle with the twelve days of Christmas and its sweets, treats, cookies, candies, and booze. I would counteract the ravages of such lethal toxins with the twelve days of Paincave. My plan was to announce to the world that…
I VOW TO COMPLETE A PAINCAVE WORKOUT EVERY DAY FOR TWELVE DAYS, STARTING DECEMBER 1!
Then, my buddy (the Race Director) invited me to ski for a few days in Vermont. Oh, okay. I can do that. I’ll just start my twelve days of Paincave when we get back. So I got back, and goofed around a few days, and then I made my plan that to announce to the world that…
I VOW TO COMPLETE A PAINCAVE WORKOUT EVERY DAY FOR TWELVE DAYS, STARTING DECEMBER 18!
Crap. I realized that I was going away with my family in between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Alright, so that’s not going to work. But when I get home…
I VOW TO COMPLETE A PAINCAVE WORKOUT EVERY DAY FOR TWELVE DAYS, STARTING…
Oh, hell. I leave for Naples, Florida on January 8th.
(Quick note here: I NEVER travel this much. I probably won’t leave the tri-state area again this decade.)
Wait a minute. What am I thinking? I am trying to make this perfect. I can’t do perfect. I am not permitted to do perfect. It’s against my TMT by-laws, the by-laws that I myself wrote, debated, voted for, voted against, vetoed, rewrote, and finally passed. (It’s tough being a government of one.)
So here’s what I am going to do:
I VOW TO COMPLETE A PAINCAVE WORKOUT EVERY DAY FOR TWELVE DAYS, STARTING SUNDAY, JANUARY 4, EXCEPT FOR THE FOUR DAYS THAT I AM IN NAPLES. BUT I PROMISE THAT WHEN I RETURN, I’M RIGHT BACK IN THE SADDLE FOR THE REMAINING WORKOUTS!
I started Sunday with Episode 19 (32 minutes), the Bakersfield Time Trial. Which I won. Monday night I rode from San Francisco to Santa Cruz in Episode 16 (62 minutes). Unfortunately, the peloton caught me in the last 500 meters of the stage. Shucks. Tuesday I plan to ride around Aspen in Episode 20, and Wednesday I ride from Aspen to Breckenridge in Episode 22. I plan on winning that stage, because Breckenridge is my favorite place and 22 is my lucky number. So look out for me.
I’ll keep you posted on my progress. (You want me to do that, right? Sure you do.) Feel free to join me in this challenge. Click here to check out www.paincave.com for a free episode. Just don’t pick Episode 22, unless you enjoy losing.
